Ramsbottom Summer Mile

JCS was delighted to join Bury Business Lodge as a joint sponsor of the Ramsbottom Summer Mile 2026, which proved to be the most successful event in the race’s 13th year history.

The event is held each year at Nuttall Park, Ramsbottom and this year, attracted a record 450 runners in the main mile races, together with around 80 youngsters taking part in the ever-popular children’s fun run. With around 700 spectators and attendees enjoying the evening, the park came alive as a vibrant community festival, with live music, food stalls, and a fantastic atmosphere.

The Summer Mile has earned a reputation as one of the UK’s most distinctive running events. Unlike many traditional road races, this unique one-mile course winds through a public park and even requires runners to loop around a small roundabout during the race. Despite the twists and turns, the standard of competition was outstanding.

The 2026 event produced some remarkable performances, with the winning male athlete crossing the line in an incredible 4 minutes 28 seconds, while the women’s race was won in a superb 5 minutes 27 seconds. These outstanding times were achieved on a course that is both challenging and highly enjoyable, showcasing the quality of athletes attracted to Ramsbottom each year.

What truly makes the Summer Mile special, however, is its inclusive spirit. The event embodies the philosophy that running should be accessible to everyone, bringing together participants of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. From first-time runners taking on their very first organised race to experienced club athletes chasing personal bests, the Summer Mile offers a welcoming environment for anyone willing to take on the unique challenge of racing a single mile.
