CARM 2020

UK National Conference on Applied Radiation Metrology – CARM 2020

JCS are very happy to be exhibiting at CARM again in 2020.

We will be showcasing our measurement capabilities and shielding materials along with the RMS30 Intelligent Monitor platform, its gamma and neutron sensors, the new beta capability of our GMS595 wide-range gamma monitor and the new Scionix Alpha/Beta SiPM based probe.

The UK National Conference on Applied Radiation Metrology (CARM 2020) is the latest in a series of annual three-day conferences run by NPL for the radiation metrology community, bringing together expertise from areas as diverse as the nuclear industry, detector manufacturers, radioanalytical laboratories and academia.

The scope will include recent advances in the underlying science (such as the application of fast neutrons and radionuclide production), as well as the practical application of radiation detectors and techniques.

Please note that CARM 2020 incorporates meetings of the IRMF and ARMUG. It is a great opportunity to keep up-to-date on progress in the radiation metrology sphere and to network with colleagues across a wide range of sectors.

One day of the meeting is dedicated to discussing the challenges and needs of metrology in nuclear medicine. The goal of the session is to solicit feedback from the user community, identifying measurement needs and how these can be supported by NMIs. Context for this discussion will be provided by presentations on current advances in the application of metrology from primary standards to patient imaging and dosimetry applications, with a focus on improving accuracy in patient diagnosis, staging and therapy.

The meeting will also include presentations on the recent advances in underlying science in the fields of nuclear decommissioning, environmental monitoring and emergency preparedness following a radiological incident. There will be a workshop dedicated to future nuclear energy (fusion, modular and Gen IV reactors).

There will be a call for papers and a commercial exhibition, and the CARM meeting is a great opportunity to keep up-to-date on progress in nuclear metrology sphere and to network with colleagues across a wide range of sectors.
